Hiking
Peloponnese offers a huge variety of hiking trails placing the area as a top destination for hikers. Plenty of hiking tours are available throughout the area. Although Greece is widely known for its beautiful beaches and islands, 80% of Greece is mountainous and Peloponnese couldn’t be any different with two thirds of its area being covered by great mountain ranges. Mainalon mountain and Parnon mountain in Arcadia province, Taygetos mountain with the famous pyramid at the top in Laconia, Chelmos mountain in Achaia and Ziria mountain in Corinthia are the main mountainous areas that you will find the most hiking paths.
The E4 European path crosses Peloponnese from North to South. It begins from the coastal town of Diakofto and ends up to Gytheio at the southern coast of Laconia covering a total distance of 282Km. Several parts of the E4 are excellent hiking locations in which you can do a daily hike or organize a multi-day hiking tour.
